UPDATE: Fatality Reported In SR 1 Crash

Avoid State Road 1 this afternoon.

Update published at 4:03 p.m.:

Dearborn County Dispatch reports that at least one person has been pronounced dead at the scene. 

The names of the drivers involved have yet to be released as the crash remains under investigation. 

State Road 1 remains closed between Nowlin Avenue and Georgetown Road.

(Greendale, Ind.) - State Road 1 is closed in Greendale after a serious accident Thursday afternoon. 

Dearborn County Dispatch says a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer collided head-on, causing an explosion around 2:45 p.m. near Nowlin Avenue. Both vehicles are engulfed in flames. Nearby electrical wire have also been damaged. 

Dispatch says State Road 1 is closed until further notice. 

Motorists are advised to use an alternate route, if possible.
