(Ohio County, Ind.) - High speed wireless internet service is now available in more portions of southeast Indiana.
Enhanced Telecommunications announced Monday that its 4G Wireless Broadband Service has been expanded into Ohio County, Switzerland County, and most of Jennings County.
In 2010, Sunman-based Enhanced Telecommunications received a federal stimulus grant for $5.69 million and a loan for the same amount from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to build a 700 megahertz wireless broadband access network in southeast Indiana.
“As a premier provider of telecommunications services, we are excited to expand our wireless broadband offerings throughout Southeastern Indiana,” said ETC Chief Technology Officer Kevin McGuire. “ETC is pleased to provide underserved areas with advanced wireless broadband at an affordable price.”
The company has been slowly expanding the wireless internet service to homes and businesses in rural areas of southeast Indiana since launching in the Batesville area in November of 2012. According to the coverage map, the 4G service now covers all or some of Decatur, Jefferson, Jennings, Ohio, Ripley, Scott and Switzerland counties.
