The accident took place early Sunday morning on I-75 in Boone County.

(Boone County, Ky.) – The Boone County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal accident on Interstate 75 early Sunday morning.
The accident took place on the southbound side of I-75 around 12:15 a.m.
According to a news release, Lauren Collins, 18, of Independence, was traveling southbound when her windshield was suddenly struck by a tire.
Deputies believe that another vehicle, possibly a dually pickup truck, was traveling northbound on I-75 when its tire suddenly broke away causing it to roll out of control and over the concrete barrier.
Collins had to be extricated from her vehicle and was transported to UC Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased.
Deputies did not locate the vehicle that lost a tire on the northbound side of I-75.
