(Aurora, Ind.) - Southeastern Indiana will welcome a new primary care physician this spring when Dr. Patricia Freidel joins her father, Dr. Jack Freidel, in practice at the Highpoint Health Physician Partners office in Aurora.

Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Patricia Freidel is coming to Aurora from a physician group practice in Fort Wright, Kentucky, operated by The Christ Hospital.  A graduate of the University of Kentucky and the University of Pikeville – Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Freidel completed a three-year residency in Internal Medicine at The Christ Hospital, prior to practicing Internal Medicine in Northern Kentucky for the past seven years.

A third-generation physician, Dr. Freidel always had an interest in medicine and caring for people in need.

“With my father and my grandfather both being physicians, conversations about the practice of medicine and healthcare in general were just part of our daily lives,” explained Dr. Freidel.  “After being a student athlete at the University of Richmond for two years, I then transferred to the University of Kentucky, confirming then that I wanted to pursue a career in medicine.

“As a primary care physician, I strongly believe in preventative medicine, encouraging patients to take small steps now to help them maintain their good health.  Also, to seek routine care and participate in screenings, so that diseases such as high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes can be addressed as early as possible.  In addition, I have a special interest in women’s health from overall wellness to specific gynecological concerns.

“I believe my greatest attributes as a physician are my ability to truly listen to what the patient is saying and to be very thorough in my examination and very precise in my diagnosis and treatment recommendations,” she continued.

“At the beginning of my career, I was told by a very wise colleague that if you listen close enough and long enough to your patients, they will provide you with a diagnosis.  In many cases, I believe that to be true.  Communication, trust and mutual respect are the keys to developing a good patient-physician relationship.

“I am extremely excited about entering into practice with my father,” she continued.  “He has been a part of the Aurora community and the Southeastern Indiana medical community for many years and I am looking forward to following in his footsteps of service to my patients and the region.”

Dr. Freidel will begin seeing patients on Friday, May 3, at her office located at 107 Bridgeway Street, Suite 100, in Aurora.  She is accepting new patients age 18 and older. Regular appointment times will be Tuesday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call her office at 812/926-0791.
