(Dearborn County, Ind.) - Today, October 10, 2025, Indiana State Troopers arrested a Greendale, Indiana man on a warrant for multiple felony theft related charges after a three-month investigation into alleged thefts that occurred while he was president of a local civic organization.

In July of 2025, Indiana State Police Detective Tim Denby, Special Investigations Section, began an investigation into Brett A. Hamilton, age 46, after he was suspected of stealing thousands of dollars from the Dillsboro Civic Club, where he was the president.

During the investigation, Det. Denby discovered that Hamilton allegedly stole thousands of dollars from the Dillsboro Civic Club’s funds and then used the money for personal gain between 2018 and 2025.

At the conclusion of the investigation, the case was presented to the Dearborn County Prosecutor’s Office. The subsequent review of the case resulted in charges being filed against Hamilton. Today, a Dearborn County Circuit Court Warrant was issued for the arrest of Brett Hamilton on felony charges of Theft, Fraud, Money Laundering, Corrupt Business Influence, and Official Misconduct.

He was arrested without incident in Lawrenceburg this afternoon and incarcerated in the Dearborn County Jail pending his initial appearance in court.

Detective Denby was assisted by Detectives and Troopers from the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post and the Dearborn County Prosecutor’s Office.
