DCF Offering Scholarship Opportunities For Current College Students

Three different scholarships are open to apply for until October 18.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Dearborn Community Foundation, Inc. (DCF) is accepting applications for three scholarships: Ivy Tech Community College Scholarship; Clifford & Gladys Ellerbrook Ender Nursing Scholarship; and the Lehner Women Empowering Women Scholarship. Students can apply for the scholarships online at the DCF website: dearborncf.org. The application deadline for all three scholarships is 11:59 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2019.

The Foundation established the Ivy Tech Community College Scholarship to encourage Dearborn County residents to improve their educational attainment locally. Scholarships of up to $500 are awarded to a maximum of five students continuing their education at Ivy Tech Community College. The scholarships must be used within one year from the time they are awarded. The scholarships are to be applied to tuition and books.

The Clifford & Gladys Ellerbrook Ender Nursing Scholarship was established to help ensure that nursing care needs of the residents of Dearborn and Ohio counties are satisfied. The scholarship provides financial assistance to help individuals receive the adequate education and training to meet the nursing care needs of the two counties. This scholarship opportunity is open to students who reside in Dearborn County and who are pursuing a diploma program, such as LPN, RN or the equivalent from an accredited institution. Up to $5,000 in scholarships are available.

The Lehner Women Empowering Women Scholarship was established by DCF through its Women Empowering Women Program – aimed at empowering women of all ages. The scholarship is designed to help a non-traditional female student who has not had the opportunity to attend college or to complete her post-secondary education started previously in life. One scholarship up to $500 will be awarded. The scholarship may be applied to tuition, books and required fees.

The scholarship formerly known as the Women Empowering Women Scholarship was renamed the Lehner Women Empowering Women Empowering Women Scholarship in 2018 in honor of one of DCF’s founders and the sole attorney, Lisa DeHart Lehner, who announced her retirement from her legal practice to pursue another business interest. Lehner’s parents, Diana Lehner and the late Charles Lehner also have had a significant impact on the Foundation and particularly the Women Empowering Women program.
