Community Members Help SD PeeWee Football Get New Refrigerators

The youth football organization fell victim to the theft of three commercial refrigerators and a freezer last Monday.

(Aurora, Ind.) - South Dearborn PeeWee Football is getting new appliances for its concession stands following a theft last week.

Three commercial refrigerators and a freezer were stolen from the organization on July 15The appliances were delivered to a parking lot at Aurora Park and were set to be moved into concession stands later that day when somebody came and stole them.

Following the theft, South Dearborn PeeWee Football started a GoFundMe page to help purchase new fridges and a freezer.

The fundraising page was shut off on Friday with $1,430 raised towards the $5,500 goal.

Steve Hamlett, vice president of the youth football organization, told Eagle Country 99.3 that a private citizen contacted him about replacing the appliances. Hamlett says the private citizen will make up the difference between what the community already raised to buy the new fridges and a freezer.

As for the theft of the original appliances, anyone with information about the incident should contact the Aurora Police Department at (812) 926-1101. Investigators say the theft likely occurred from the parking lot at Aurora Park along U.S. 50 between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 15.
