City Of Greendale Council To Hold Public Hearing Regarding 2022 Budget

The meeting is scheduled for October 13.

(Greendale, Ind.) - City of Greendale Council will meet for a public hearing next month to discuss the 2022 budget. 

The public hearing will be held on Wednesday, October 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Administration Building, 500 Ridge Avenue. 

City residents may be heard at the public hearing regarding the proposed 2022 budget. 

In a notice to taxpayers on September 24, the City of Greendale outlined their budget estimates. The City estimates a total budget of $13,070,764 in 2022. 

The breakdown is as follows:

  • General Fund - $5,454,797
  • Local Road & Street - $300,000
  • Motor Vehicle Highway - $578,208
  • Cumulative Capital IMP (Cig Tax) - $100,000
  • Cumulative Capital Development - $200,000
  • TIF - $2,337,044
  • Riverboat - $3,482,683
  • Public Safety LIT - $618,032

Maximum estimated funds to be raised, including appeals and levies exempt from maximum levy limitations is estimated at $3,186,896. The current estimated tax levy stands at $3,056,789. 

Following the October 13 public hearing, any 10 or more taxpayers may object to a budget, tax rate, or tax levy by filing an objection petition not more than seven days after the hearing. Any objection must identify the provisions of the budget, tax rate, or tax levy to which the taxpayers object. 

A budget adoption meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 25 at 5:30 p.m.
