Candlelight Vigil To Be Held In Aurora As Part Of National Police Week

The event will be hosted by the Laughery Valley F.O.P. Auxiliary.

(Aurora, Ind.) – Community members are invited to respect, honor, and remember officers who have died in the line of duty.

As part of National Police Week, a Candlelight Vigil will be held on Thursday, May 13 from 7:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Gabbard Riverfront Park in downtown Aurora.

The event will be hosted by the Laughery Valley F.O.P. Auxiliary.

This year, the names of 394 officers who died in the line of duty will be read during the 2021 Virtual Candlelight Vigil. Of those names, 295 are from 2020, including 182 deaths as result of COVID-19, and 99 are historical.

The event will feature survivor stories from celebrities, law enforcement agencies, and government dignitaries.

Candles will be provided along with light refreshments.
