(Guilford, Ind.) – It has been awhile since we have seen any rain in Eagle Country.
Due to extremely dry conditions, and no rain in the forecast over the next several days, the Miller York Volunteer Fire Department has issued a Burn Ban for the Miller York Fire territory.
The territory covers parts of Miller, Logan, Kelso and York townships.
Under the burn ban, residents in these areas are prohibited from having campfires and other recreation fires, unless enclosed in a fire ring. Burning will be allowed in barrels with a ¼ inch mesh top from dawn to dusk only.
Open burning of any kind using fuel such as wood or other combustible matter is prohibited with the exception of grills fueled by charcoal briquettes or propane. Charcoal from permitted grills shall not be removed until the charcoal has been thoroughly extinguished.
The burning of debris such as timber or vegetation is also prohibited.
In addition, residents are strongly urged to limit their personal use of fireworks to those that don’t leave the ground and that they refrain from using aerial firework devices.
The Burn Ban is effective immediately, until further notice.
