Buildings Razed At Future Site Of Bright UDF

(Bright, Ind.) - Downtown Bright looks a lot different today than it did just a few days ago. A few buildings on Stateline Road near Jamison Road met the wrecking ball Monday and Tuesday. They included popular watering hole Grote’s Trading Post and Westside Pediatrics. An excavator was lifting the remains of the bar into trucks to be hauled away on Wednesday. Ice cream lovers might like to learn that the demolitions make room for a proposed United Dairy Farmers gas station and convenience store. UDF purchased three parcels near the intersection last October for a total of $965,000, according to property records. The parcels are 1.74 acres combined. The Cincinnati-based store chain submitted designs for the building and site to Dearborn County Planning and Zoning in September of 2017. The proposal shows a brick and stone façade store facing Jamison Drive and a canopy covering 14 fuel pumps. Planning and Zoning Director Mark McCormack says a final construction permit has not yet been requested by UDF. That could may not happen until either a legal access issue between UDF and an adjacent property owner is resolved, or the company decides to alter its plans to avoid requirement of the access, according to McCormack. The space is needed in order for trucks to deliver fuel and other items to the store.
