(Boone County, Ky.) – Are the stars and stripes on your American Flag a little worse for wear?

If so, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office may be able to help. In partnership with Holiday for Heroes and Allegiance Flag Supply, the Sheriff's Office has announced “Operation Tattered Flag”.

The objective of the campaign is to replace a tattered, residential American Flag (3x5) with a brand-new flag.

Sheriff’s deputies will be keeping an eye out for tattered flags. When they notice one, deputies will contact the property owner to see if they wish to have their flag retired and replaced.

All retired flags will be disposed of ceremoniously with dignity and respect.

In addition, deputies will make arrangement for any veteran who is without a flag and wishes to have one.
