(Boone County, Ky.) - The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Scrap Unit is making more arrests of scrap metal thieves.
A total of four arrests were made with two different incidents on Wednesday and Thursday.
In the first case, a contractor reported $1,200 worth of metal roofing taken from the 300 block of White Pine Circle near Florence. Garrod Kelly and Keith Buckler, both of Union, were caught trying to sell the stolen roofing at Walton Recycling at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Kelly, 27, and Buckler, 24, were charged with Theft by unlawful taking.
In the second case, deputies stopped a theft in progress at Cristo Rey Marydale Church on Donaldson Road in Erlanger. A deputy on patrol saw a car parked outside the church with it’s doors open. Copper wiring and tools were seen inside the car.
Christopher Fannan, 19, and Benjamin Snyder, 25, both of Erlanger, were taken into custody about 20 yards away from two disassembled air conditioner units. They are each charged with Public intoxication (drugs), Criminal trespass 3rd degree, and Possession of burglary tools.
