Boone Co. Clerk Introduces Plates By Phone

(Boone County, Ky.) - Boone County residents will soon be able to renew their personal vehicle license plates by phone.

On April 1, the Boone County Clerk’s Office will open the service to the public. All you have to do is call the clerk’s office at (859) 334-4880 anytime, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Whenever people call they must provide the title number of the vehicle to be renewed, the vehicle identification number (VIN), credit card information for payment, and a daytime phone number.

There are some restrictions. Registration must not be expired, the property tax must not be delinquent on any vehicle, and the vehicle’s insurance must be current and verifiable.

County Clerk Kenny Brown said people renewing by phone should have the new registration arrive by mail in three to five business days.

Boone County residents can also renew their standard “Unbridled Sprit” passenger vehicle plates online at http://www.boonecountyclerk.com.
