(Walton, Ky.) - The body of a missing Walton man is believed to have been found inside the Grand Canyon.
National Park Service personnel located a body and motorcycle below the South Kaibab Trailhead on Wednesday after a multi-day search and rescue operation.
Park rangers recovered the body approximately 465 feet below the rim of the canyon.
Based on evidence found with the body, the individual is believed to be John Pennington, 40, who was believed to have entered the Grand Canyon on or around February 23 and abandoned his personal vehicle.
An investigation into his death is ongoing.
No additional information was provided.
