(Batesville, Ind.) - Area resident Carli Weiler has been selected as the new Director of Health and Wellness for the Batesville Community School Corporation (BCSC), announced superintendent Paul Ketcham. Weiler was formally approved for the position at the January 15 meeting of the BCSC School Board, taking over for Gayla Vonderheide, who retired at the end of last year after 25 years of service to the school system.

After graduating from Greensburg High School, Weiler earned her bachelor of science in nursing from Ball State University and was awarded a master of science in nursing education from Western Governors University in August of 2023. Her previous nursing experience includes extensive emergency room trauma care, as well as leadership roles as a clinical nurse educator and a department team lead.

“We are excited to bring Carli Weiler to our administrative team at BCSC,” Ketcham said. “Her combination of hands-on nursing experience, documentation and process knowledge, plus relationship-building and mentoring skills are exactly what we need to lead the nursing team that cares for our students while at school.”

Weiler and her husband Matt, a 2014 Batesville High School graduate, are the parents of three-year-old Adaline and one-year-old Lincoln. The family also includes two dogs, Gilbert and Winston. In her spare time, Weiler enjoys watching scary movies and reading. Besides the Harry Potter book series, her favorite authors are Frieda McFadden and Colleen Hoover.

“This position is a huge opportunity for me,” Weiler explained. “I have always been drawn to leadership roles, but to do so in the Batesville community means a great deal. Not only will I be able to grow in my career and be closer to my children, but I get to help grow the future of Batesville kids, including my own. Matt and I are so excited for them to be Batesville Bulldogs. I’m looking forward to bringing my passion for nursing to this role at the Batesville public schools.”

Weiler will take on her new duties at BCSC in early February.
