Batesville Teen Killed In Legion Road Crash

The accident happened on Saturday just before noon.

(Batesville, Ind.) - A weekend crash in Ripley County has claimed the life of a Batesville teen.

Indiana State Police and Ripley County Sheriff's deputies responded to the crash on Legion Road near Batesville around 11:45 a.m. on Saturday. 

Police say a 16-year-old from Batesville was traveling westbound on Legion Road near County Road 200 East when the vehicle left the south side of the road. The driver then overcorrected, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and overturned. 

A passenger in the vehicle, Kaleb G. Norton, 17, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. 

The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries. 

Toxicology results are pending as the investigation is ongoing.
