Batesville Middle School Band Director Performs at Rose Bowl Parade

An incredible honor.

(Batesville, Ind.) - Batesville Middle School Band Director Ellen Fennell took part in one of the most prestigious parades the U.S. has to offer.

On New Year's Day, Ellen Fennell represented BMS and her community at the 2026 Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California.

Through the Michael D. Sewell Foundation and Saluting America’s Band Directors, Fennell performed piccolo under the direction of Jon Waters alongside 350 incredible musicians from all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, and Panama.

Not only was her performance unforgettable, but she also connected with band directors from across the nation and brought back fresh inspiration to help make the BMS band even stronger.

To top things off, the Indiana Hoosiers won the Rose Bowl game, defeating Alabama and advancing to the College Football Playoff Semifinals.
