(Batesville, Ind.) – A fire broke out at Oakmont Apartments on Saturday afternoon.
Batesville Fire was dispatched to the complex around 4:57 p.m. for a report of smoke coming from a vacant apartment unit.
Firefighters quickly forced entry into the apartment for interior fire attack. The fire was contained to the area of origin, preventing further damage to surrounding units.
The cause of the fire was determined to be an object sitting on the stove, which is believed to have been accidentally left on while unattended.
Batesville Fire says the apartment unit was unoccupied at the time of the fire, but a tenant was in the process of moving into the unit.
No injuries were reported.
