(Aurora, Ind.) - Two Aurora men are accused of burglarizing a Cole Lane home after the owners were arrested on drug charges.

Jonathan L. Orcutt, 28, and Matthew Seabolt, 37, are facing Burglary (Level 4 Felony) and Theft (Level 6 Felony) charges. Formal charges were filed on July 13.

The charges stem from an alleged burglary June 28 and 29 at a home on the 9700 block of Cole Lane in Aurora.

According to a probable cause affidavit, local law enforcement executed a search warrant at the home a few days prior (June 25) following a narcotic investigation. During the search, authorities located and seized a large amount of narcotics, U.S. currency and firearms from the residence, They also observed multiple items of jewelry in plain sight.

The homeowners were subsequently arrested on drug charges and booked into Dearborn County Jail. A dog sitter then reported the home had been burglarized on June 29.

On June 30, Dearborn County Sheriff's deputies conducted a traffic stop on a truck driven by Matthew Seabolt. During the stop, deputies allegedly observed Seabolt's passenger, Christan Spaulding, placing drug items down her pants. Deputies say she was in possession of crack cocaine, heroin, marijuana and a glass smoking device.

Spaulding allegedly admitted that she and Seabolt drove to Ohio to purchase narcotics and a search warrant was acquired for their cellular phone.

Deputies say the phone contained photos matching the jewelry observed at the home on Cole Lane just a few days prior.

During questioning, Seabolt allegedly told investigators that his buddy Jon burglarized the home on Cole Lane and brought the jewelry to his residence. He also said that Jon sold most of the jewelry at a pawn shop in Cincinnati.

Orcutt was brought in for questioning on July 1. He initially denied having an knowledge of a burglary on Cole Lane. After seeing pictures of the jewelry, text messages with Seabolt and video of him selling the jewelry at the pawn shop, Orcutt told investigators he took Seabolt to the residence on Cole Lane and dropped him off. He added that when they next saw each other, Seabolt asked him to sell the jewelry, and that Seabolt received all the money from the transaction at the pawn shop.

Video surveillance from the pawn shop allegedly shows Seabolt placing the jewelry on the counter and Orcutt collecting at least half of the currency paid - which happened to be $2,600.

Another search warrant was issued at Seabolt's home. Inside, deputies say they located and seized multiple empty jewelry cases and several loose pieces of gold jewelry matching the description of items taken from the home on Cole Lane. Several empty packages with the names of the victims were also found, according to court documents.

Orcutt is currently held in the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center on $100,000 surety and $5,000 cash bond. Seabolt's bond was set at $150,000 surety and $5,000 cash.
