(Aurora, Ind.) - The Aurora Public Library District recently was awarded $1,000 by the Dearborn Community Foundation’s Proactive Grant program to promote learning, growing and thriving.

The grant was recommended by DCF Board member Bridget Davidson as part of the Foundation’s annual program, through which each of the organization’s 15 volunteer Board members recommends a grant.

“The Aurora Public Library District serves as a hub, where individuals of all ages can access a wealth of resources, programs and services," said Davidson. "By supporting the library, I hope to help sustain and expand these invaluable services, ensuring that everyone in our community has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.”

The Aurora Public Library is located at 414 Second St., Aurora; 812-926-0646. The Dillsboro Public Library, which is part of the district, is at 10151 Library Lane, Dillsboro; 812-954-4151.

The district offers a trove of resources, services and programs including local history, genealogy, traveling book sets and ‘walking books,” teen programs and kids’ programs.

The Aurora Public Library was organized by contributions. A lot on Fifth Street was set aside for the library when the town was incorporated in 1819. For complete information, visit the library’s Facebook page or website.

Anyone can contribute to an unrestricted DCF endowment to help make impact grants like the 15 DCF Board members are recommending in 2024.
