Aurora Firefighters Receive Award for Life-Saving Actions

(Aurora, Ind.) - Two Aurora firefighters were recognized on Tuesday night for their life-saving actions. 

At this week's regularly scheduled council meeting, 1st. Lieutenant Zackery Gibbs and 2nd. Lieutenant Jason Skipworth received The Medal of Valor from Indiana State Fire Marshal Stephen Jones.

Gibbs and Skipworth received the award for rescuing a citizen from a burning apartment back on October 14, 2022. Both firefighters went Above and Beyond the call of duty risking their lives to save another.

"I’d like to thank Aurora Mayor Pat Schwing, Indiana State Fire Marshal Stephen Jones and State Representative Elect Garrett Bascom for showing their support for the fire service," said Fire Chief Jeff Lane.
