(Aurora, Ind.) – An Aurora Elementary School teacher is in the running for America’s Favorite Teacher.

You can vote now for art teacher Lori Friedhoff, who currently sits 4th in her group.

Votes will decide which teacher will appear in Reader’s Digest, win a trip to Hawaii, and take home $25,000.

Friedhoff says she would pay off some debt with the winnings and put the rest into her non-profit youth basketball league. Her dream is to finance or get backing for a sports complex to get more kids playing sports and having fun.

She added that her favorite thing about being an education is the students. “All of my students would tell you that I care about them like a parent. I’ve hugged them, cried with them and laughed with them. They are what drive me every day.”

The first cut in the contest is Thursday, April 4 at 7:00 p.m.
