Area Solid Waste Management Districts Receive Community Recycling Grants

More than $465,000 was awarded to 18 grant recipients.

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) today announced the recipients of the agency’s Community Recycling Grant Program.

A total of $465,068 will be split between 18 award winners.

Among the grant recipients were:

  • Dearborn Solid Waste Management District - $17,139
  • Southeastern Indiana Solid Waste District (SIERD) - $24.247

These grants provide funding for projects that increase education and promotion of recycling, waste reduction, organics management, and household hazardous waste collection and disposal.

Grants are funded through IDEM’s Solid Waste Management Fund.

  • City of Jasper, Street Department – $100,000
  • City of South Bend – $26,756
  • Clark County Recycling District – $10,125
  • Dearborn Solid Waste Management District – $17,139

  • Indiana State Fair Commission – $100,000
  • Indianapolis Zoological Society, Inc. – $25,178
  • Miami County Solid Waste Management District – $6,510
  • Posey County Solid Waste Management District – $7,337
  • reTHink, Inc. – $12,747
  • Southeastern Indiana Solid Waste District – $24,247
  • Bartholomew Church and School – $6,578
  • Town of Mulberry – $3,750
  • Trustees of Indiana University – $3,117
  • Washington County Solid Waste Management District – $33,753
  • Wayne and Union Solid Waste Management District – $9,800
