Area Businesses Recognized for Longevity, Impact on Community

INDIANAPOLIS – Several area businesses were recognized last week for their longevity and service to their employees, community, and the state.

Governor Eric Holcomb awarded 38 companies and organizations with 2023 Governor’s Century or Half Century Business Award.

The Governor’s Century and Half Century Business Awards honor Hoosier businesses that have remained in operation for a minimum of 100 or 50 consecutive years and have demonstrated a commitment to community service.

Among this year’s recipients is:

  • KJMD Enterpirses/Alig Shell (Retail Trade Service), 85 years, Dearborn County
  • Top Quality Building Products Inc. (Building Material & Supplies Dealer), 55 years, Dearborn County

Governor Holcomb also recognized a number of recipients from 2020, 2021 and 2022, which included:

  • Sycamore Gas (Natural gas service), 154 years, Dearborn County
  • The Friendship State Bank (Financial services), 110 years, Ripley County
  • Batesville Products Inc. (Custom molding), 76 years, Dearborn County
  • Enneking Auto Body Inc. (Automotive repair), 68 years, Ripley County
  • Hirt & Ellco Inc. (Plumbing & HVAC), 51 years, Ripley County
  • Dunlap Supply (Supplies), 148 years, Ripley County
  • FCN Bank (Financial services), 120 years, Franklin County
  • Flavors Ice Cream (Food service), 65 years, Dearborn County
  • Zerbe Firm (Law), 65 years, Dearborn County
  • Bruns-Gutzwiller Inc. (Construction), 100 years, Ripley County
  • Dearborn County Federal Credit Union (Financial services), 58 years, Dearborn County

“Every year, the Century and Half-Century Awards remind me of the dedication and perseverance Hoosiers across the state bring to their businesses, and each year it is truly an honor to recognize these organizations that have withstood the test of time, navigated economic uncertainties and demonstrated unconditional commitment to their employees and communities across Indiana.” 

More than 1,200 Indiana companies have been recognized during the award's 32-year history.
