Application Deadline Approaching for Scholarship Opportunity for High School Seniors

East Central, Lawrenceburg, and South Dearborn seniors are eligible to apply.

(Dearborn County, Ind.) - The application deadline is quickly approaching for the Dearborn County Solid Waste Management District Scholarship. 

High school seniors at East Central, Lawrenceburg, and South Dearborn are eligible to apply by March 1. 

Eligibility:

  • The applicant must attend and be a graduating senior at East Central High School, Lawrenceburg High School, or South Dearborn High School.
  • The recipient of this scholarship must commit to attending as a full-time student at any college or university pursuing a degree in environmental studies.
  • The applicant should have a GPA of 3.0 or higher as of the application deadline.

Pending adequate submissions, one award winner may be selected for each high school in Dearborn County. 

Application Guidelines:

  • Nominated applicants must complete and submit the “Official Scholarship Application” form
  • ONE personalized letter of recommendation from a teacher or community leader
  • The applicant must participate in a Zoom interview with members of the Dearborn County Recycling Center and members of the Citizen’s Advisory Committee. The candidates will be asked about their involvement in clubs and volunteer hours.

The winners will be chosen by April 30, 2025.

*Students who are awarded the scholarships will be asked to sign a commitment statement. Scholarships must be used to defray tuition, books or fees at an accredited college or university. The scholarship must be used during the fall term following the awarding of the scholarship. No continued scholarship support for the student is implied or stated beyond the granting of a single award.
