(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - The Dearborn Community Foundation (DCF), Inc. recently awarded a $1,000 Proactive Grant to the charitable outreach program provided by All Saints Parish in northern Dearborn County.

"The parish has a Compassionate Care Committee that helps families in need. I was aware of some families that were going through a difficult time and thought my recommended $1,000 might ease some of their difficulties," said DCF Board Member Bill Ward, a member of All Saints.

Throughout 2021, DCF is awarding 15 Proactive Grants of $1,000 each to charitable organizations that serve Dearborn County residents. Each of the Foundation’s 15 volunteer board members is recommending a grant. The money comes from the Foundation’s Unrestricted Endowment Funds, established by donors to provide flexibility to DCF’s board members and staff for changing needs in the community over the years.

Compassionate service at All Saints commonly leads to an active desire to alleviate another’s suffering is how the committee and parishioners view the mission, said Ward of St. Leon.

"We continually strive to fulfill our purpose of compassionate service in various ways. Some of our acts of compassion are directed toward our own parish members while some of our actions are directed towards people who are not a part of our parish community. Frequently our acts of service and compassion are unseen."

Meanwhile, anyone can contribute to an unrestricted endowment at DCF to help make impact grants like the 15 DCF Board members are recommending.
