2nd Annual Blues & BBQ Event Returns To Rising Sun June 22

The family-friendly event has quickly become a popular attraction in Rising Sun.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) – Blues music and barbeque has a nice ring to it.

The Ohio County Convention, Tourism and Visitors Commission along with Rising Sun Main Street will host the second annual Rising Sun Blues and BBQ on June 22 in downtown Rising Sun.

The event located on Main and Poplar streets will feature an amateur BBQ rib and brisket competition, live blues bands, kid zone with inflatables and a hillbilly fashion show. Arts and crafts and food vendors have booths set up as well.

“We’re working on expanding this event,” said Kendal Miller, executive director of Ohio County Tourism. “For 2019 we are allowing participants to cook ribs and brisket. Under the guidance of the Ohio County Health Department we are allowing participants to offer samples if they follow set rules and regulations.”

Only individuals who haven’t made money cooking are eligible to participate in the judged portion of the BBQ competition. All entries must be cooked on site, with parboiling in advance not permissible. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place.

Registration is $50 per team. The deadline is Friday, June 7 at 5:00 p.m.

The Blues and BBQ event will be held rain or shine. For more information, visit www.enjoyrisingsun.com.
