INDIANAPOLIS - With Primary Election Day just one week away, Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales is reminding eligible Hoosiers to make a plan to vote on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

Secretary Morales will be traveling around the state on Primary Election Day, monitoring the election, visiting polling locations and thanking voters and poll workers.  Secretary Morales plans to observe elections in several counties and cast his own vote in Marion County.

Though Primary Election Day is a state holiday, the Indiana Secretary of State’s Office will be open from 5am EST to beyond the close of all Indiana polls at 6pm CST. Staff in the Secretary of State’s office and Indiana Election Divion will be manning phones to assist voters and election workers.

“Here in Indiana, we’ve worked hard to ensure our elections are safe, secure, and accessible. Now it’s up to each eligible Hoosier to do their part.  Voting is one of the most sacred rights we have as Americans, and I encourage every eligible Hoosier to get out and vote,” said Diego Morales, Indiana Secretary of State.

Now is the time for Hoosiers to make a plan, show up, and vote.  Hoosiers are encouraged to visit IndianaVoters.com to make sure they’re ready to vote.  The site is a one-stop resource where voters can check their registration status, find their polling location and view a sample ballot before heading to the polls.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time on Tuesday, May 5. A valid photo ID is required to vote. Voters who are in line at poll closing time may remain in line and will be allowed to vote.

As always, Hoosiers are encouraged to stay weather aware and plan ahead. The Indiana Secretary of State’s Office has emergency management resources in place to respond to any potential weather or other issues.
