D.J. Fontana, Longtime Elvis Drummer, Dies

Fontana was 87.

(Nashville, TN)  --  Elvis Presley's longtime drummer is dead. 

D.J. Fontana passed away Wednesday at the age of 87. 

"The Tennessean" reports Fontana teamed up with Presley and his band in 1954, where he remained until 1968.  After that, he lived in Nashville and worked with a number of artists, including Dolly Parton and Waylon Jennings. 

He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.
