UPDATE: Suspect Who Pointed Gun At Deputy Seriously Injured In Officer-Involved Shooting

Kentucky State Police are continuing to investigate the police pursuit that spanned three counties.

(Newport, Ky.) - The man believed to have pointed a gun at a Boone County Sheriff’s deputy suffered life-threatening injuries in an officer-involved shooting.

Kentucky State Police is investigating the shooting that occurred Sunday morning in Campbell County.

Preliminary findings indicate that Kenton County Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle matching the description from an earlier incident in Boone County.

KSP say the suspect drove into a parking lot in Newport, exiting the vehicle and shot at the officers. Return fire struck the suspect, who was transported to UC Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

The names of those involved continue to be withheld as the investigation is ongoing.
