UPDATE: SEI REMC Power Outages Restored

By Mike Perleberg   Update posted at 8:46 a.m.: Barry Lauber, spokesperson for Southeast Indiana REMC, says the power restored in Switzerland County shortly after 6:00 a.m. Wednesday. The outage which began at approximately 3:00 a.m. affected about 400 customers in the county’s eastern half. Lauber said the outage was caused by a breaker that tripped due to high energy use. SEI REMC apologizes to affected customers for the inconvenience.   Original story posted at 6:40 a.m.: (Vevay, Ind.) – On a bitter cold Wednesday morning, some southeast Indiana residents may be unable to heat their homes because of a power outage. Residents in the Wilmington and Aurora areas of Dearborn County, as well as a large portion of Switzerland County, reported power outages overnight. A representative with Southeast Indiana REMC told Eagle 99.3 that the cause of the outage was not clear. There was no estimate on how many customers are affected or a timeline on restoring service. He did say that two crews were in the Wilmington area working on the outage. Switzerland County Emergency Management Agency said power was out through most of the county’s eastern half due to the substation in East Enterprise going down. Crews were working on the issue.
