(Owenton, Ky.) – Two people were killed and a third person is in danger of losing their life following a crash in Owen County Monday evening.
A pickup truck driven by Gary Sigretto, 51, of Owenton, was heading south on Kentucky Highway 127 when the truck crossed the center line for unknown reasons. The truck collided head-on with a car driven by Lillie Newby, 73, of Frankfort, at about 5:17, according to Kentucky State Police.
Newby and her passenger, Patricia Gibson, 76, also of Frankfort, were transported to New Horizons Medical Center in Owenton where they were both pronounced dead by the Owen County Coroner.
Sigretto was transported by medical helicopter to the University of Cincinnati Hospital for life-threatening injuries.
Troopers said everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt.
Toxicology results for Sigretto are pending. The accident investigation is ongoing.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Owen County Sheriff’s Department, Owen County Rescue Squad, Owen County Fire Department, Owen County EMS, Owenton Fire Department, Monterey Fire Department, and the New Liberty Fire Department.
