Switz. Co's Hunter Hayes Named ORVC Boys Basketball POTW

By Travis Thayer (Vevay, Ind.) – Following two solid performances, Switzerland County High School’s Hunter Hayes is “wanted” as the Ohio River Valley Conference Boys Basketball Player of the Week. The ORVC Report for the week of January 9-14 was released Tuesday. Switzerland County Pacers standout Hunter Hayes earned weekly honors by averaging 18.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game in two wins over Southwestern (Hanover) and South Ripley. On the girls side, Rising Sun’s Lucy Carrigan and Shawe Memorial’s Claire Higgins are the ORVC Girls Basketball Co-Player of the Week. Carrigan continued her excellent play accumulating 48 points, 11 rebounds and 5 steals in two games, while shooting 20-23 from the free-throw line. The Lady Shiners star leads the ORVC in scoring at 25.1 points per game, good for fourth in the state. Higgins was equally as good, totaling 54 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals in three games.
