(St. Leon, Ind.) - The Sunman-Dearborn Endowment Corporation (SDEC) is proud to announce its continued commitment to the educational advancement and support of students within the Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools. This year’s contributions from the SDEC will notably enhance both academic and extracurricular programs across all district schools, demonstrating our ongoing dedication to fostering educational excellence in our community.

As part of its commitment to the Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools, SDEC will allocate a total of $47,500 to bolster extracurricular programming throughout the five schools in the district. This funding aims to ensure that all students have access to diverse and enriching activities beyond the classroom, helping them to develop essential life skills and interests.

In addition to supporting extracurricular activities, SDEC will fund the acquisition of new furniture that complements the current building projects and library redesign at East Central High School. This improvement is designed to enhance learning environments and ensure that our facilities meet the highest standards of comfort and functionality for all students.

Furthermore, SDEC is excited to introduce a new scholarship initiative, offering six scholarships each valued at $5,000 to deserving students of the class of 2025 who are planning to attend a trade school. Successful applicants will be permitted to renew the scholarship for a 2nd year, for a total of $10,000. This initiative reflects our commitment to supporting diverse educational pathways and recognizing the importance of vocational training in today’s economy.

“We are immensely proud to continue our support for the Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools through these significant contributions,” said Dr. Andrew Jackson, President of the Sunman-Dearborn Endowment Corporation and Superintendent of Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools. “These initiatives are designed to provide our students with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed in both academic and extracurricular endeavors.”

SDEC remains dedicated to its role in supporting the educational landscape of Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools. We are excited to see the positive impacts these contributions will bring to our schools and students in the coming years
