(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Two teachers at St. Lawrence School were the recipients of generous grants from the Dearborn County Retired Teachers Foundation

Bryan Wagner is the physical education teacher at St. Lawrence School and he received a grant sponsored by the Knights of Columbus to make some upgrades to his department.

The grant was used to support the PE program through the purchase of a new TV.

had two teachers from St. Lawrence School in Lawrenceburg receive teacher grants this past school year.  Both of these grants were sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.

“A heartfelt thank you to the Knights of Columbus—especially Jim Pierce—for your continued support of the PE program at Saint Lawrence School. Your generosity has made a big impact on our students. The new TV is a game-changer! It allows me to lead workouts more effectively, use a timer, play music, and introduce exciting fitness activities through YouTube. I love the new TV because we get to do fun workouts with music—it feels like PE is a dance party and a gym all in one,” said Wagner.

Madeline Sterchi, a preschool teacher at St. Lawrence School, received a grant sponsored by the Knights of Columbus to create an outdoor space for her preschoolers to enjoy.

She wrote, “Thank you so much for selecting St. Lawrence Preschool as a 2024/2025 grant recipient. I was asked to tell a story about one child that was affected by this generous donation. However, I am unable to limit it to just a single child that has benefited from the improvements and upgrades of our preschool play area. Our entire preschool has been so blessed by these additions.”

In addition she reports that the “grassy area is filled with many new features and textures to play with and experience. As we all know, being outside is such an important part of a child's school day and with your help and support from The Knights of Columbus we have been able to transform the play space for all of the children to enjoy and blossom. The Preschool outdoor space is vastly improved and along with it the educational experience of every child that attends our program! We are so grateful for your generosity, said Sterchi.
