Recent Oldenburg Academy Grad Helps Save a Life at Brookville Pool

The incident took place on Sunday.

(Brookville, Ind.) – A recent Oldenburg Academy graduate has earned hero status for her life-saving actions at a public pool.

On Sunday, Caroline Jansing was on duty at Heap/Hofer Town Aquatic Center in Brookville when a four-year-old child was observed at the bottom of the pool.

Jansing sprung into action, pulling the child from the water.

The 18-year-old lifeguard, along with the child’s father, were successful in attempting life-saving measures.

“We could not be more proud of everyone who helped save a life, including the family, staff, patrons, and our local EMS. This is one of the many reasons we all live in a small town, our community comes together when we need them the most,” reads a statement from Heap/Hofer Town Aquatic Center.

The victim is expected to make a full recovery, according to a report by FOX19.

Jansing plans to become a paramedic. She will attend the University of Cincinnati this fall.
