(Oldenburg, Ind.) - Oldenburg Academy’s Academic Team competed in the Indiana Academic Super Bowl State Finals held this past Saturday at Purdue University. The English and Social Studies teams both earned 2nd, marking the second straight year of placing in the state’s top three teams.
The English team, led by captain Laura Dennis, included team members Eleanor Eaglin, Lydia Ehrhard, and Alaina Jensen. The Social Studies team was anchored by Maddie Ryan, with members Bridgette Ehrhard, Adam Dennis, and Simon Nobbe. Both groups competed against top schools from across Indiana in a rigorous contest of subject-specific knowledge and critical thinking.
“All of our team's studying paid off,” said Laura Dennis, “and we are all super proud of each other for putting in the work and pulling through for second place!"
Maddie Ryan concurred, acknowledging the benefits of these competitions: “It has been an honor to get to participate in the state competition for the last three years and represent my school in a very positive manner. I have enjoyed getting to learn unique information that helps me gain a different perspective and acquire knowledge I will have the rest of my life.”
In addition to their category wins, OA’s Academic Team was once again recognized as one of the top ten Indiana Academic Super Bowl teams—a distinction the school has consistently earned in recent years.
Moderator Mr. Justin Hartman praised the students’ dedication: “The state competition reflects countless hours of preparation and a genuine love for knowledge. These students did outstandingly, and I couldn't be more honored to coach such a driven and talented group.”
The OA community congratulates these scholars and their coach on their impressive achievement and continued tradition of academic excellence.
