New Boone County Coroner Appointed

By Mike Perleberg (Boone County, Ky.) - Boone County's longtime coroner has resigned. Douglas Stith resigned from the elected office effective April 30. Stith was first elected the county coroner in 1998, after serving as a deputy coroner under his father, former county coroner Donald Stith. Boone County Judge-Executive Gary Moore has appointed Deputy Coroner Elizabeth Rittinger as the new county cocorner. Rittinger has been a deputy in the coroner's office since 2011. A registered nurse for St. Elizabeth Emergency Department, Rittinger holds degrees from Northern Kentucky University and the University of Phoenix. She is a certified death investigator. She has earned a certification in forensic nursing and is licensed by the Kentucky Board of Nursing as a sexual assault nurse examiner.
