“Play Music on the Porch Day” is a worldwide event held the last Saturday of August.

(Aurora, Ind.) - “Play Music on the Porch Day” began with the question, “What if for one day everything stopped…And we all just listened to the music?”

In its 9th year, “Play Music on the Porch Day” is a worldwide event held the last Saturday of August. As of this release there are 1822 registered locations in 47 countries and Main Street Aurora added Aurora to the worldwide map.

Main Street Aurora is hosting over 32 musicians at 15 locations throughout downtown Aurora. The event starts at 11am and continues until 8pm Saturday, August 26th. A special highlight for children, and the young at heart, will be a hands-on opportunity at drums, guitars, horns etc. with former South Dearborn School Corporation Music teacher Doug Sykes. Mr. Sykes will be setup 11-5 at McFeely’s, 340 Second St.

“Music goes beyond words. It can transcend the most difficult barriers. It ties us together like a thread through our hearts” said founder Brian Mallman a Milwaukee-born, Los Angeles-based artist.

If you’re unable to make it to Aurora, musicians are encouraged to play on their porches, in their yards, “no porch necessary” just find a place to gather and celebrate music.
