(Aurora, Ind.) – A local country band on the rise is releasing its new album this week. Lead vocalist Kristine Spielmann, bassist Mike Dittmer, both of Aurora, and guitarist James Westrup make up the group known as The Skallywags. Spielmann and Dittmer are both graduates of South Dearborn High School. They formed a band when they met in high school, and quickly became fan favorites at the local bar scene around the Greater Cincinnati area. The band has since relocated to Nashville, Tennessee and is hoping to make their big break in county music’s home city. The traditional sounding, rock edge group spends their time working in the studio, gigging, and writing. The band has even spent time recording with Toby Keith band drummer Dave McAfee.
