(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Not many kids have their whole community wondering which college they’ll choose to attend. Mason Parris did. And he put all the guessing to an end Tuesday evening when the standout wrestler announced his commitment to the University of Michigan. The Lawrenceburg High School senior is considered the top 220-pound recruit in the country. He is a two-time Indiana state wrestling champion, winning the 200-pound division in the IHSAA State Wrestling Tournament in 2016 and 2017. Carrying a 105-match win streak, he will try for a third-straight state title in the upcoming season.

— Mason Parris (@Parris58) October 24, 2017 Parris is also an excellent student, maintaining a 4.2 GPA. He has said he wants to study engineering in college. Michigan’s wrestling program led by head coach Joe McFarland finished 8-7 overall, 4-5 in the conference in the 2016-2017 season. But with Parris' commitment, the Wolverines may have one of the top recruiting classes this year. A leading tackler in the state, Parris was also highly recruited for football. He received offers from schools including Ball State University – where his father played – and the University of Cincinnati. However, earlier this year Parris told FloWrestling he would stick to wrestling in college.
