Matt Bevin handily won the GOP nomination for re-election, while attorney general Andy Beshear became the Democratic nomination.

(Frankfort, Ky.) - Incumbent Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin will be the Republican Party's candidate for governor again in November.
Bevin will seek his second term in office after defeating runner-up State Rep. Robert Goforth in the Republican primary on Tuesday. Bevin claimed more than 50 percent of the votes in the four-candidate race. Goforth had 39 percent.
He'll face Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear in the fall.
Beshear is the Democratic Party's nominee for governor. He pulled out a close contest over House Minority Leader Rocky Adkins. Beshear finished with 38 percent of the vote to 32 percent for Adkins, while Adam Edelen collected 28 percent. Geoff Young was a distant fourth.
Edelen called for unifying the party ahead of November’s election.
In other statewide races Tuesday, Michael Adams won the Republican nomination for Secretary of State while Heather French Henry won the Democratic nomination.
Daniel Cameron defeated Wil Schroder in the Republican race for the attorney general nomination.
