(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A couple accused of dealing methamphetamine from the Aurora home they shared have been sentenced - one to prison and the other to probation. A police informant purchased meth from Timothy Schmaltz at the home Schmaltz shared with Kara Rigacci last May. A subsequent search of the home by police led to the discovery of methamphetamine and other items associated with drug dealing inside the home. A child was living with them. Rigacci, 26, was sentenced on November 30 in Dearborn Circuit Court. She had pleaded guilty to Maintaining a Common Nuisance (level 6 felony) and Neglect of a Dependent (level 6 felony). Judge James D. Humphrey ordered her to four years with three years and 213 days suspended to probation. She was given credit for 152 days served. Schmaltz, 24, reached a plea agreement with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to Dealing in Methamphetamine (level 3 felony) on December 20. Humphrey ordered him to serve 16 years. Six years will be spent in prison with the final two years on a work release program. The other 10 years he will be on probation. 200 days credit was given toward Schmaltz’s prison time.
