(Hebron, Ky.) - Web coupon giant Groupon is celebrating a new warehouse in Hebron.
Kentucky Lieutenant Governor Jerry Abramson was present for the ribbon-cutting at Groupon’s distribution warehouse in Boone County Monday.
“This is an excellent opportunity for both Groupon and Kentucky,” said Lt. Gov. Abramson. “Matching one of the nation’s strongest companies with our great workforce will provide a significant boost to our local economy. We’re proud the Commonwealth has been able to partner with Groupon, and we know the company will thrive here.”
The warehouse will serve as the primary fulfillment center for the company’s growing Groupon Goods business. According to a news release, Groupon Goods launched in 2011 and now accounts for more than $1.7 billion in annualized billings.
The web company has created 115 new jobs in Hebron. Groupon CEO Eric Lefkofsky said northern Kentucky is an ideal location for the new fulfillment center because of the region’s thriving workforce and vibrant community.
“Opening Groupon’s first warehouse here will help us better serve our customers, and we look forward to being a part of this great community,” said Lefkofsky.
Steve Pendery, Campbell County Judge-Executive and chairman of Northern Kentucky Tri-ED, said northern Kentucky is a natural location for companies like Groupon because of the area’s logistical advantage with robust interstate and airport infrastructure.
Groupon can earn performance-based tax incentives for job creation and investment through the Kentucky Business Investment program.
