(Greendale, Ind.) – A Greendale man has pled guilty in a child battery case.

Roger M. Dozier, 30, was sentenced on Wednesday to 32 years. He will spend 20 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections and 12 years on probation.

According to a release from Dearborn County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens, the investigation began in April when a woman walked to the Greendale Police Department and reported a four-year-old battered child.

When officers arrived at the home, they found a three-year-old and a two-year-old with multiple injuries. Both children suffered fractures, in addition to several severe bruises. They were treated at Highpoint Health and later transferred to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

The mother of the children, Jessica Lee, told police she had left both children in the care of Dozier the night before they were reported injured.

Dozier pled guilty to two counts of Battery of Child Less than 14 Years Old Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury (Level 3 Felony). Lee was also charged, and her case is pending.

The children were place with foster families.

“The children in his case suffered from severe injuries,” said Deddens. “This plea agreement that was reached takes into account his limited prior criminal history. More importantly, this plea agreement prevents two children, who are 4 and 2 years old from reliving this nightmare and they will not have to face Dozier to testify at a trial against him. It is a relief to the children and the community that he will spend many years in prison for these crimes.”
