(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - A cloud of mystery surrounds the absence of the principal at Central Elementary School in Lawrenceburg.
School district officials sent a letter home with parents on Tuesday, February 14 stating that principal Ralph Haynes had been placed on administrative leave for an indefinite period of time.
“I want to assure all parents it is our intention to make sure your child’s education continues without any interruptions,” Superintendent Karl Galey said in the letter.
The letter did not explain what led to the principal’s absence. Galey told Eagle 99.3 Thursday he could not comment on why Haynes was placed on leave, because it is a personnel matter.
Haynes’ situation is not set to be considered by the school board at this time. The matter could be discussed by the board in a closed-door executive session, but any decisions on Haynes’ employment would have to be voted on in a public meeting.
Haynes has been principal at Central Elementary School for eight years.
