(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A long vacated property in Lawrenceburg is set for a major face-lift. The Lawrenceburg Redevelopment Commission approved an $840,000 grant Monday that will go towards upgrading the Dearborn Plaza. Nearly eight years ago, Kroger left the main building in the strip mall located just off U.S. 50 in Lawrenceburg. Developer Scott Hale, of Anchor Community Development, has been selected to renovate the building for two potential new tenants. Hale is also said to be pursuing a third tenant. Lawrenceburg Mayor Kelly Mollaun has yet to announce who those tenants will be. However, Hale and the City of Lawrenceburg are expected to bring in nationally known tenants rather than local businesses. The initial renovation of the Dearborn Plaza is estimated at around $4.4 million, with more than $7.5 million to be invested once the plaza is full with new tenants. The development could result in over 60 full-time permanent jobs. More information about possible property tax increases could be discusses at Monday’s city council meeting. The Dearborn Plaza grant approval now goes to city council for recommendation.
