But the town wants to annex the property and many of the homes around it.

(Brookville, Ind.) - The wheels are turning on a possible deal to keep Brook Hill Golf Course in Brookville open.
The course is scheduled to be closed and auctioned off in parcels in December, unless a buyer comes forward.
The Franklin County Observer reports that a meeting of government officials was held Tuesday, October 16. The Brookville Town Council has voiced openness to owning the golf course. However, the town would want to annex the course and about 175 homes around it.
But the annexation process could take years. With the auction scheduled for December 8, the race is on to find a person or entity willing to purchase the property.
County commissioners and county council passed motions stating that they would not oppose the annexation.
Brookville Town Council, the county commissioners and county council have agreed to form a committee to work toward a solution.
Town council could further the discussion on the golf course at their next meeting on Tuesday, October 23.
