(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Two arrests were made after a pair of vendors allegedly overdosed at the Dearborn County Fairgrounds. Authorities responded to a report of overdoses of a male and female at the Dearborn County Fairgrounds on June 22. Last week, the Dearborn County Fairgrounds hosted the annual Dearborn County Fair. According to a probable cause affidavit, Betty J. Christian, 32, of Ironton, Ohio, and Roger M. Adkins were identified as the persons who overdosed. Police say the two were found inside a white 2006 Keystone camper that was parked on the fairgrounds property. Each year, many vendors and campers stay at the fairgrounds during the county fair. Amber M. Bailey, of Portsmouth, Ohio, along with her work supervisor, located the two inside the camper. Bailey told police she located a syringe inside the camper. The other woman used Narcan to try and revive Christian. Adkins and Christian were then transported to Dearborn County Hospital where Adkins was pronounced dead. Police say multiple items of drug and drug paraphernalia were located in plain site inside the camper that allegedly belongs to Amber Bailey. Items seized include: used naloxone kit, straws, vials, pipes, baggies, packaging and a container with residue and attached spoon. Bailey allegedly told police that a number of the items were hers, and that she abused marijuana and methamphetamine. Christian and Bailey are both charged with Possession of a Narcotic Drug (Level 6 felony) and Possession of Paraphernalia (Class C misdemeanor).
